Khichdi for weight loss (recipe and preparation)

           Ingredients

1.    Clarified butter
2.    Cumin seed and powder cumin.
3.    2 pinch asafoatida
4.    One Onion
5.    Diced carrot
6.    Beans/ capsicum
7.    Green chilli
8.    Salt.
9.    Chopped tomato
10.  Turmeric powder
11.  Coriander powder
13.  Red chilli powder
14.  1 cup Soaked moong Dal (30 minutes soaked)
15.  1 cup oat
16.  Water
17.  Lemon
18.  Pan.

              How to prepare

  • Into a pan(at medium flame), add 1 tablespoon of clarified butter.
  • When it turns liquid, add ¼ tablespoon cumin seed.
  • Add 2 pinch asafoatida and stir for a few second.
  • Next, add into the pan 1 finely chopped big Onion, cook and stir until it become brown and translucent.
  • Add into the mixture ½ cup of diced carrot.
  • Add to the pan, capsicum/beans( this is optional, you may choose not to add this)
  • Cook the mixture for 6 minute.
  • Add a little salt into it (moderate amount), don't add in excess.
  • Add a tablespoon finely chopped tomato and stir for a minute.
  • Then add ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder.
  • Add also ½ tablespoon of coriander powder.
  • To the pan as well, add ½ tablespoon of cumin powder.
  • Add 1 tablespoon red chilli powder(this is optional, or you can increase or decrease the quantity as per your taste).
  • Cook everything for 4-5 minute on a medium flame.
  • Add ½ cup of moong Dal, soak for 30 minute before adding.
  • Stir this mixture for 3-4 minutes.
  • Lastly add 1 cup Oats into this. Mix everything well.
  • Then add 2½ cup of water and mix everything well. Allow it to cook for 15-20 minute.
  • As soon as it start to boil, stir it to prevent it from burning.
  • Cover the pan and allow it to cook for 15minutes.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent it from burning.
  • Switch off the flame and cover it for another 5-10 minute.
  • You can squeeze a line to enhance the taste before serving(Optional).

  2. It taste weird and sweet, By the end of this week, I should be able to tell if it really is working well, get my measurement and find out how much weight I have lost.
